Credentials, not claims
On InViGiL the people who report and investigate are not anonymous accounts. Every applicant verifies their identity through Aadhaar eKYC with DigiLocker, and ID documents are checked against their official formats.
On approval, reporters, investigating officers and volunteers receive an official ID card, an appointment letter and an authorization letter by email, so your role can be confirmed by anyone who scans your ID.

Reporters, journalists, investigators, contributors and volunteers accept the Reporters and Investigators Charter: gold-standard press ethics, multi-source verification, independence and responsible conduct.
Every professional also accepts the Master Global SOP before registering or applying for jobs. Both documents are public, so you know exactly what you are agreeing to.

Every news post states the city or region it comes from. The feed then ranks stories for readers near that place, with metro areas such as Bengaluru or Delhi-NCR treated as one region, so local reporters reach local readers.

Standards you can point to
The Reporters and Investigators Charter is built on multi-source verification, independence and impartiality, and responsible handling of sources and evidence. The SOP covers credentialing, incident response and professional conduct.
When something goes wrong, the Grievance Officer, the Chief Grievance Officer and the Nodal Officer handle complaints, with acknowledgement within 24 hours.

How do I apply?
Open the app, choose Become a Reporter, Become an Investigator or the volunteer option, fill in the form and verify with Aadhaar eKYC.
Why are the charter and SOP mandatory?
They set a clear standard of ethics and conduct for everyone who represents InViGiL, and acceptance is recorded with your application.
Will I get an ID card?
Yes. Approved reporters, investigating officers and volunteers receive an ID card, an appointment letter and an authorization letter by email.
How is my voter ID checked?
The voter ID number must match the official format of three letters followed by seven digits.
Can I apply twice?
No. If you have already applied, the app shows your application status instead of the form. You can resubmit only if your application was rejected or more information was requested.
